“Mother of Grace,” a new adventure

There are many definitions for grace. Grace is elegance or beauty of form, manner, motion or action. Grace is favor or goodwill. Grace is mercy, pardon. Grace is also a name, my daughter’s name. Our home at one time served as a hospital, Mother of Grace Hospital. Grace is everywhere.  It can be applied to all areas of our lives. We all need some of it in our lives. This is our journey.

I love to cook and bake! My personal Pinterest account is FULL of recipes and ideas. I will be sharing recipes and more. There are so many things that I miss about living in the city.  Restaurants and grocery stores are right up there at the top of my list.  Some of my recipes will be my version of our family’s favorite meals to order when we are out of town.  Also, cupcakes are a bit of an obsession! You will see quite a bit of them here. Occasionally, I will be comparing different recipes for the same thing and sharing the pros and cons for each recipe. I am always looking for the perfect chocolate chip cookie or cutout cookie recipe!

Family Life

Life is tough, we all know it.  Learning to live a life of grace is not easy. I will be sharing what I have learned and what I am learning on this journey. Whether it is our relationships with family, friends or community, we all need to learn to show mercy and goodwill, and sometimes that is easier said than done. Our kids have had a tough time when we moved to rural America.  There are pros and cons to living in a rural community just like there are living in a big city. Mom and Dad have struggled a bit, too. I know we are not alone.

Recently, I had to quit my full time job. Since we are down an income my husband and I set out on a new journey of budgeting and getting rid of debt at the same time. Oh boy, has this been a challenge! He asked me to include finances on my blog to help us stay accountable. We are learning to apply grace to this area of our life as well.  Both of us have had to show mercy towards the other at times. It may be cliche, but it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Also, we have a son about to graduate high school and we want to help him be better than us in this area. So, I will be sharing tips and ideas for helping young adults be successful with their money.

I love books! I love movies! I like to escape to another place and another time, occasionally. There are life lessons in books, movies, sitcoms and such, more than what is on the surface at times. Because of this, I will be sharing what I have learned from some of these and I hope that you will share with me as well.

This 90+ year old home is in desperate need of some loving.  I am blessed to be married to a man that knows how to use his hands. He can do pretty much anything when it comes to flooring and building, so he is in charge of our home remodel. Our journey to fix it up will be documented here along with tips and ideas. Also, my boys and husband enjoy building things when they have the time and I will be sharing their projects here.

Grace is a part of all of our lives. In my life she’s my daughter, my house, and I’m learning to live a life of grace in the every day adventures. I hope you join me on this journey!
